Panoply of Love

My daughter recently had a significant healing in the matter of 24 hours.  My daughter is ten months old and as a new mother, I find myself slipping into reading mainstream articles about milestones, things to look out for and “normal” behavior. This of course doesn’t tell me the first thing about her or my true identity as perfect children of God.

One milestone that my daughter has been experiencing is teething. With each pair we seem to go through the usual [mortal man’s] list of expectation – discomfort, loss of appetite and difficulty sleeping. And with each sleepless night, I find myself more exhausted seemingly unable to find which end is up.

During a recent conversation with a family member, I mentioned the difficulty we were experiencing but brushed it off as an expected thing. She immediately countered my comment with absolute denial of the material image that I had described, reminding me that, “Love is [my] shepherd that restores my spiritual sense and that [I] abide in the consciousness of Love forever.” She reminded me of what Mrs. Eddy said in We Knew Mary Baker Eddy, Vol. II “Feel the Love that dissolves the error.” (p. 133) My family member then told me to turn my attention to my daughter, reaffirming that God is her Mother giving her all harmony. Embracing her in Love that comforts her.

I immediately began working in Christian Science as I was taught, focusing on the words and thoughts that had been shared with me. I pictured both my daughter and myself in a panoply of Love.

That night, two things happened: the appearance and sound of discomfort from teething ceased immediately and constipation was relieved. My daughter slept peacefully through the night and we haven’t seen or heard her fuss from teething since, and we know that new teeth are on their way.
