“It was truth that was lifting her thought.”

I want to tell of a healing when I prayed for my daughter.

Over the past year, my daughter has been trying to get back into Tae Kwon Do, a sport she loves. She found a place to take lessons, but injured her leg after a few classes. She continued going to watch the classes until her leg felt better. Then she moved closer to work and joined a studio in her new area.

She soon injured herself again, in a different way. This time she called me to pray about the injury and some other things that were particularly stressful in her life. After we talked, I wrote out a treatment, and she had good results within a few hours.

But the physical healing was not complete. Though her leg/hip felt better, she was still trying to baby it during class and in daily activities. During class a few weeks later, she hurt her good leg while kicking with the injured one. She called me again, saying that it was too painful to go about her daily work.

I was seeing a pattern with all these repeated injuries, but wasn’t sure what it meant. I knew it was time to really pray about the whole thing. I wrote a treatment, asking God what He wanted me to know and trying to listen carefully to what He was telling me. I was also praying that God, Mind, knew what my daughter needed for her growth and would impart that to her.

The next morning I tried to listen again to what God was telling me. Two distinct ideas came to me: One idea was that competition is completely manufactured by humans; it is not how God’s man interacts. The other idea was about Love and what God’s love is like for man. I called my daughter early so she could work with those ideas during the day, and she agreed they were good ideas.

I kept knowing that the law of Christian Science treatment was operating. My daughter found her own ways to work with the ideas. She was drawn to reading an article in the new anthology that helped her greatly. She said it was just what I was saying. By the end of the day her healing was complete. She was surprised to realize she was sitting and walking freely, which she had been unable to do for some days.

As my daughter described her healing to me, I realized that more was going on here. The ideas she received were not ones I had given her. God was imparting to her what she needed to overcome a critical nature. It was Truth that was lifting her thought. God was meeting her need through the work of the treatment.

In thinking about this healing, I realize how perfectly God meets all our needs. My need was to fulfill the Association assignment. I had been dismayed over having to “find someone” to heal, since I already felt overwhelmed with a busy schedule. (Of course, that was just error talk.) My healing was to learn not to procrastinate in doing the full, specific treatments needed.

This healing also fulfills the Association title to “lift up the spirit of man.” My daughter was made aware of a character fault that was keeping her from seeing the true reflection of God’s man. The spirit of man was lifted up to a higher place.

I am grateful for the careful and faithful preparation of every step of our Association. We are all blessed in the unity of Mind—not just on one day, but during all the months of prayerful listening before Association and throughout the rest of the year.
