"Healings are … spiritual understanding taking place"

  1. After reading the book for this year it mostly enforced my understanding that Christian Science can be effective in all circumstances. It’s wonderful hearing about the different examples of God reaching each one of us. One big change for me was to see that, eventually, Christian Science not only has to be studied, but it has to be understood in your consciousness. So, healings are one example of spiritual understanding taking place.

  2. The first testimony is about Abigail Gardner Sharp and her epic story with Native Americans. (p. 43) I thought this story was interesting because it applies Christian Science to a time or age that I don’t think of Christian Science being a part of. It’s wonderful to hear how she was able to eventually forgive the Native Americans and the effect it had on those involved. These examples of healing show how whenever God is involved, everyone is blessed.

The second account of healing that meant a lot to me started on page 87. Captain William Arnold Wallinger writes about trusting God and then doing his own work. He also writes about however isolated we may be, God is still with us. That’s about as good as it gets and very comforting. Many times I get so wrapped up in my own life story. I start thinking that I am the person in charge making the decisions. At first it feels good because I feel responsible, but then I start worrying if there would be a time when I wouldn’t know what to do? That’s why I love reading these testimonies. It reminds me that the decisions in life should really be coming straight from God.

  3. One testimony that I hadn’t thought of in a while is of one of our childhood friend’s eyesight being healed, and there was no need for her to wear glasses anymore. This is a reminder to me that physical healings do not always have to be drawn out or take a long time. Now that I have experienced healings myself, I know that there will be an ending to seemingly longterm ailments.

  4. Reading this book has inspired and reinforced what we can be doing with our lives. We can strive to be healers as much as possible. If we ever pause and wonder what direction we should be taking in our lives, prayer is actually already employing us full time, especially in these current times when there seems to be great amounts of fear. We have an obligation, the freedom, and the right to be praying for our world and understanding our relationship to God. I’m starting to spend more time in prayer. It’s as if the world has called me up and asked for a Christian Science treatment.
