/When I first moved to the Boston area over a year ago I realized I had an incredible opportunity. I took it. On my days off from work I would visit our Association office and read Skip’s addresses. I started at the very beginning. It was wonderful! The first one, while incredibly helpful, also made me chuckle. The title is “To do more than we do.” While he kept on topic, I also got the sense he was sometimes thinking, as he wrote it, “Did I remember to tell them this in class?” (That’s where my chuckle came from.)
Before the year was up I had read them all! What a blessing that was! It also was a weekly reminder of what it means to practice Christian Science, to stay on track, to be active in the world. I have felt closer to my whole Association family than ever before, and so eager for them to have the same blessing. Most of all, keeping my thought in that mental atmosphere, and considering that progression of spiritual ideas, helped me through a year that at times seemed tough, rocky, even stressful. I may not have one moment that stands out head and shoulders above the rest, I learned dear lessons. I was seeing how deep our teacher dove into CS, and not human opinion during difficult years for our church, and that was an example. That much good, and that many lessons weekly, can only lift a man up.
