Another aspect of these testimonies that greatly impressed me was the often quick or instantaneous nature of the healings that came to people with no prior knowledge of Christian Science. I considered on what it was that brought these quick healings to newcomers to Christian Science, and I concluded that a prime reason was the willingness to learn and accept this Truth in their lives.

“I have been healed of timidity and conceit, pride and humiliation, imitation, isolation and competition.”

Having read and been moved by the testimonies in the 1943 Journal, I can honestly say that they are a great help to me.  The variety of testifiers, of people I could relate to readily, has increased my sense of a common humanity.  A sense of exiting the tomb of conformity, appreciating more one’s own individuality as expressing the “divine law and order of being” has grown and settles upon me.

I have thoroughly enjoyed setting aside this time in my day to appreciate these people’s love for God and their gratitude for Christian Science.  Each, as one testifier said is a Psalm of Gratitude.  They were all so beautiful and such good reminders of our own healings and so inspiring.

“MY joy needs to be shared!”

“Joys that can only be shared” (CSS June 19, ’43, p. 1094) sums up the overall feeling I got from reading these testimonies. The healings large and small, instantaneous and of longer duration were expressed with a confidence, an assurance and an expectation and appreciation of the surety of good appearing that radiated from the pages. There was no doubting the allness of God.
